Capital group started its relationship with J.P. Morgan more than 80 years ago in 1940, when J.P. Morgan became a custodian of our funds in the U.S. Now, J.P. Morgan is one of our global partners around the world, and we work on a number of business units together.
John Witt:
The relationship with J.P. Morgan goes back decades.
John Witt:
J.P. Morgan acquired a very important business partner of ours. The relationship has really broadened and strengthened since that point.
Harry S. Banga:
The relationship we started with J.P. Morgan was some 20 odd years ago. Our first relationship with J.P. Morgan was investment banking. From there the partnership grew up to private banking, then grew up from there to credit and sales. They’re doing institutional banking, they’re doing trading commodities, they’re doing it right across the spectrum for us.
Irene Lee:
We have been a friend of the firm for at least two, if not three generations. It probably started at the latest with my father.
Silas Chou:
Our relationship goes back four generations with J.P. Morgan. In the end, it's the people. In the case of a bank is the bankers. That's why we have a long-term relationship.
Angad Banga:
So a time when working with J.P. Morgan meant the most to me and the firm, I would say, was a decade ago. We were a startup, we were an idea, and many people wouldn’t have taken the chance on us at the time. J.P. Morgan understood what we were trying to achieve, partnered with us, helped us grow, strategized with us, and we would not have been celebrating our 10th anniversary under The Caravel Group umbrella, which would not have been possible if it wasn't for that trust.
John Witt:
I think in recent history that J.P. Morgan was one of the lead advisors was the simplification of our Jardine’s group structure, an important transaction for us, and it was a transaction that was ultimately very well executed.
Thomas Chan:
It meant most to me in working with J.P. Morgan because we tried to redesign our fund platform on our MPF scheme and they are the largest fund managers on our platform.
Irene Lee:
I appreciate especially the way they look after their clients. They always have your interests in mind. They understand you, which is really important, solution oriented. If you have a family-controlled business, which is what we have here, they understand the dynamics.
Harry S. Banga:
I think what I appreciate most about J.P. Morgan is the advice they have been giving to us. It is very honest and fair advice, considering our strengths and our weaknesses. And they have been very frank about what they said, do’s and don’ts for us to protect us. I think the advice has been the most remarkable thing.
Winnie Kwan:
J.P. Morgan's local knowledge, global perspective, and client centricity are all elements that we appreciate.
Silas Chou:
Wherever you have good ideas, you need bank financing and the bank to give you the financial service to serve your ideas.
Irene Lee:
Firstly, congratulations. It’s a very, very special time, 100 years. I hope you will continue to flourish, to use your leadership position, to use your resources to make the world a better place.
Dennis Lo:
